Thanks for checking in and keeping up with the project’s progression. I would like to share three very cool and exciting events, in which Post Soviet Graffiti participated this season:

From October 9th through October 15th, Georgetown University’s on-campus café cooperative “the Midnight Mug” hosted us for a solo photo exhibit. The exhibit received a very positive reception from the Georgetown community. It was fun mounting prints, discussing the role of graffiti in these societies, and getting feedback on my first solo exhibit.

On November 12th, I was honoured to present my research at the 2011 Central Slavic Conference (CSC) in Saint Louis, Missouri. A regional affiliate of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies (ASEEES, formerly AAASS), the CSC operates annually in conjunction with the International Studies Association (ISA)’s Midwest Conference. I sat on the “Issues in Historical and Contemporary Eastern and Central Europe” panel with Jaroslaw Moklak of Jagiellonian University (Lemko Education in 19th and 20th Centuries) and Michael Tyburski of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Overcoming Post-Communist Insecurities: Two Worlds of Alliance Formation). Dr. Jacek Lubecki moderated the panel. Click here to view the 2011 CSC/ISA joint-conference program.

Finally, I did an interview with Reid Standish of Simon Fraser University (British Columbia, Canada) for the school’s newest international affairs magazine The Hidden Transcript. Reid produced a short video clip for the magazine’s website and a print-version of our interview will be available shortly after the new year.

Thanks again for your continued support. Please keep checking in as the project continues to evolve and grow!
